I have reports from Peter Stacey and Ifor Owen that they are unable to open it at all from the link on http://www.bluestarline.org/log_book.html ~ Fraser

Not so much opening the logbook but I have to log in more than once after it says I am logged in successfully. Part way through scrolling the posts and when I wanted to write this post. If it is a security thing fine, perhaps fine tuning required, maybe the safety valves are whisping now and again.
Other than that the new one has a lot going for it.

Well, Tom, now you know how I felt on the rare occasions that I stepped on the bottom plates of a Steam Ship :D

Jack is there such a thing as a 'good' Doxford Engine? What does Dave Payze say," Keep away from any engine begining with P, such as Pielstick (now under MAN umbrella),Paxmans and Pdoxfords.
I was on the Brasilia Star (Queensland in your day) several years later as 2nd and I could collect a bucket full of broken piston rings after each long deep sea passage from each engine, yet they seemed to still keep plodding on. The Victorian engineers would have been proud of them, If in Doubt, Make 'em Stout.
I believe Bank line had the monoply on Doxfords and they used to say "12 thousand tons, 12 ton a day , 12 knots, perhaps"

Hello all,

I am hoping that someone here might be able to help me find a long lost friend for a dear friend of mine. I am looking for a James (Jim) Fitzpatrick who was serving around the late 1960's early 1970's. From what I have been able to find out is that he lived in Glasgow (Possill Park) but was not necessarily born there as she seems to remember him not having a glaswegian accent. She remembers that he was a purser and insits he worked on a ship called the Port Pirie, I can not find this ship but she is adamant that this is the name of the ship. He used to go to New Zealand and Australia when at see but that is all the info I have, very limited I know but am hoping someone might remember the name. He had brothers called Jackie and Anthony. Any help would be grateful please or any ideas or even if you know or knew James (Jim) Fitzpatrick I would love to hear from you. Many thanks x

Spam!!

Postby Big Budgie » Sat Mar 31, 2012 12:37 am

Oh Dear! It would seem that the log-book has fallen foul of the spammers! This, unfortunately also happens a lot on the Ford CMax site I also use. There is a mechanism on that site for reporting spam and other inappropriate entries to admin, who then delete the entries and, I assume, revoke the membership of the perpetrator. I wondered how long it would take. Funny it never happened to the old one!
